Seven years ago, Hurricane Hilda was intimidating the Southeast Texas coast one Friday afternoon in October.
Mrs. E. J. Baron, Jr., executive secretary of Port Arthur's CavOILcade celebration, was barking encouragement to carpenters who were apprehensively glancing skyward. The workmen were preparing to begin construction of a reviewing stand for the next day's CavOILcade parade.

Such entertainers as Xavier Cugat and Abby Lane, Jeanne C. Riley, Tony Bennett, Jimmy Dorsey, Bobby Vinton and Gordon and Sheila McCrae have enjoyed the sights while in Port Arthur to perform during CavOILcade. The TV family, "The Cowsills," will play this week.
