There's no generation gap here.
The Cowsills, the popular family singing group starrring at the second annual Light International Auto Show, have found that the family that sings and plays together stays together and still likes each other.
As a family they are not much different than the folks next door. As a group they have taken family singing and made a profitable business.
Perform On Stage
Five of them - there are nine in all - actually perform on stage. Bob, John, Paul and Barry (the 'boys'), Susan (who wouold rather be called SueBar) and Barbara (the mother of the brood) make up the 'performing' Cowsills.
However, there is one most important member audiences seldom see. Off stage he is the boss. While the family is on stage he is their sound man and manager. He is personable Bud Cowsill, the father - and husband - whose youthful good looks belies a 20-year hitch in the Navy.
The Cowsills skyrocketed to fame just three years ago and soon became regular visitors in milions of households via a series of television commercials.
Toured Nation
Since their appearance at last year's auto showl this busy family has toured most of the nation in their motor home, performing on college campuses and at expositions and on concert dates in hundreds of cities.
To reach San Antonio this week they accomplished something of a minor miracle by driving from Hibbing, Minn., where they performed Satuday night, through thousands of miles of snow drifts to open the Light's Auto Show. For the geography buff, Hibbing is near the Canadian border.
New Records
Now recording on the London label, the Cowsills have just cut a new single and album, both named "On My Side," which is scheduled for release during the week they will be performing in San Antonio.
The Cowsills will present 20 separate shows at the Light's Auto Show. They will perform three times each night, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and four times each day Saturday and Sunday.
The show will be open from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. weekdays, from noon until 11 p.m Saturday and from noon until 9 p.m. Sunday.
