HAGERSTOWN, Md. — More than two decades after they married, veteran musicians Vicki Peterson and John Cowsillhave finally recorded their first album together.

The husband-and-wife duo will bring songs from their debut collaborative release, Long After The Fire, to a performance Friday evening at Hub City Vinyl in downtown Hagerstown.

Released in 2025, Long After The Fire features songs written by John's late brothers, Bill and Barry Cowsill, both members of the famed family group, The Cowsills. The album serves as both a tribute to John's brothers and a long-awaited musical partnership between Peterson and Cowsill.

"We met in 1978," Peterson said during a recent interview with The Journal. Although the two crossed paths decades ago, they did not begin dating until around 2000 and married in 2003.

Despite sharing a life together for more than 20 years, finding time to create a joint project proved difficult.

"It took about two decades," Peterson said of recording together.

For much of their marriage, both maintained active touring schedules. Peterson is best known as a founding member of The Bangles, whose hits include "Walk Like an Egyptian," "Manic Monday" and "Eternal Flame." Meanwhile, Cowsill spent more than two decades performing with The Beach Boys while continuing his work with The Cowsills and numerous other projects.

"About 20 percent of the time we had different touring schedules, but we also had kids in the mix. We managed to figure out how to do it," Cowsill said.

Once their schedules finally aligned, the couple began exploring the catalog of songs left behind by Bill and Barry Cowsill. The result is an Americana-influenced collection that blends sibling harmonies, country influences and classic pop songwriting.

The duo has spent nearly a year touring in support of the album.

"We do two or three shows and then we head back home," Peterson said.

Fans attending Friday's performance can expect an intimate evening centered on storytelling and harmony singing.

"Some songs you may know, some you may not," Peterson said.

The pair also promise plenty of humor.

"Attendees should be prepared to have your face hurt from laughing," Cowsill joked.

"He thinks he's funny," Peterson quickly responded.

The musicians describe their performances as casual and personal, encouraging audience members to bring albums, photos and memorabilia for autographs. They make a point of meeting fans after each show.

"At our show, everyone is a VIP," Peterson said.

The concert will take place at Hub City Vinyl, located at 28 E. Baltimore St. in downtown Hagerstown. Doors open at 7 p.m. with the show beginning at 8 p.m. Tickets are available through the venue.
