The Blue and Gold Queen at Kearney State College was chosen by the Cowsills and was announced at the concert Wednesday evening.
Every year, the Blue and Gold yearbook has a queen, but this is the first year an actual competition was held. Prior to this the queen was selected by the yearbook photographers.
Barb Coats was announced as the queen and Les Lomax, Trudy Hamor and Judy Johnson were the runnersup. Miss Coats is a senior and the other three girls are sophomores at Kearney State.
They were selected on the basis of an interiew with the Blue and Gold staff and photographs sent to the Cowsills.
All campus organizations had the opportunity to enter a candidate. The competition was narrowed to 10, following the interviews. At this time, the Blue and Gold staff sent the Cowsills two photographs of each of the finalist and the Cowsills made the final decision.
