Veteran Calgary singer-songwriter Tom Phillip's 2006 song about the late Billy Cowsill has been featured on the soundtrack of Die My Love, the new Jennifer Lawrence film, which was shot in Alberta in 2024.
Blue Shadows (For Billy Cowsill) appears on the eclectic soundtrack, which also includes Elvis Presley's Love Me Tender, David Bowie's Knooks, John Prine and Iris DeMent's In Spite of Ourselves, Toni Basil's Mickey and even Raffi's Bananas.

Phillips wrote Blue Shadows nearly two decades ago for a Billy Cowsill memorial concert at Knox United Church. The songwriter died in 2006 after spending years in Vancouver and Calgary's music scenes.
Blue Shadows was the name of the Vancouver alt-county band Cowsill led in the mid-1990s.
Before that, he was the vocalist for the Cowsills, a family band that scaled the charts in the 1960s and '70s and was the inspiration for The Partridge Family television series.
