HERE COMES THE BRIDE!
The bride is always the last to arrive, as you know. We’ll be advised when she gets here, cos the organ will begin to play The Wedding March. Today that song (also known as here Comes The Bride) is my very favorite tune!
I take my place at the altar and suddenly - the music begins! The first person to walk down the aisle is a lovely little girl dressed in blue. She’s our junior bridesmaid, but you know her best as my sister Susan. Behind her, you see several couples – made up of my ushers and the rest of our beautiful bridesmaids, who are also dressed in long, blue growns. They are followed by my best man, Paul, and by the maid of honor, Marilyn (who is Nanci’s older sister). And then – all eyes are on Nanci, my beautiful bride-to-be, who within a matter of minutes will join me as we take our vows and become man and wife!
CHAMPAGNE RECEPTION
By 3:30 P.M., the entire wedding party and all of our guests are on the way to Nanci’s parents’ home in Glendale, California – where our champagne reception will take place. It’s a good thing the Roberts have a large backyard, cos we have about 400 guests! The garden of the Roberts’ home has been beautifully decorated and almost everywhere you look there’s food, champagne, lots and lots of colorful flowers, and yes – people!
I want my guests to mingle, so if you’re shy – just ask John or Barry to introduce you to the rest of the guests. In fact, you won’t even have to ask them. Knowing my family, one of them will take you by the hand and before you know it – you too will know everyone here! Don’t be surprised if you notice a trace of tears in the eyes of my mom, Susan, or Bill’s wife Karen. Like most girls, they usually cry at weddings – but since they’re happy tears, it’s O.K.! The rest of the afternoon is for fun. Nanci and I want all of our guests to enjoy themselves and have a wonderful time! I’m so glad you could come along – and thanks for letting me share this special day with you!
YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED
After the reception, Nanci and I will head for the Los Angeles Airport, where we’ll board a plane bound for the Bahamas for a two-week honeymoon. At press time, Nanci and I are so busy planning our wedding that we haven’t had time to find an apartment. We’d like to live in Santa Monica, California, and we hope to get all of this settled within the next few weeks.
I’ve received many letters asking if I’ll still be a member of the group after I’m married. I want to assure you that I will and that nothing will change insofar as the Cowsills are concerned. I truly love and sincerely enjoy entertaining you - and we Cowsills will continue to do so for as long as you want us to!
