Mom's Mac And Cheese Susan did a video as part of the Make Mac To Give Back campaign.
Ingredients:
Kraft American Deluxe Cheese Slices (approximately 20)
1 lb Medium or Large Shell pasta
Butter (Susan was using Kerry's Gold Butter Salted) Must be salted
28 oz can of whole tomatoes (mashed)
1 cup Whole Milk (at least)
Salt and Pepper
Prego Italian Style Bread Crumbs
8 oz Tomato Sauce (optional)
Grated cheddar cheese (optional)
1. Cook pasta
2. Crush tomatoes
3. In a 9 x 13 baking dish place a layer of pasta (Susan said the butter will keep it from sticking)
4. Add a layer of butter (probably about 6-8 pads of butter)
5. Add 1/2 of crushed tomatoes
6. Add about 4 oz of tomato sauce (optional - Paul's version)
7. Add in milk (probably about 1/2 cup - use more if you feel it needs)
8. Salt and pepper to taste (Susan said she goes heavy on the pepper)
9. Add layer of cheese slices (about 10)
10. Repeat steps 3-8
11. For the top layer of cheese slices start the slice on top of the rim of dish. This will seal the dish as it cooks and prevent the liquid from overflowing. Put the slices along the whole outside edge of dish. Note: You can either totally cover with the cheese slices like first layer (Susan's version), or you can just put around edges and fill center in with grated cheddar cheese (Paul's version)
12. Top with Progresso Italian Style Breadcrumbs
13. Can add a little more butter if you want
Bake for 45 minutes (I didn't catch the temperature - probably 350)
