Slow Dancing In The City
(Peter Bunch and Bob Cowsill)
Lead Singer: Peter Bunch

Walking down the boulevard, another day gone by
Moving with the crowd ,as they leave it all behind
I turn around and there’s another world, I can feel it.

Living in the shadows, there’s a rhythm on the street
Someone in the alley, just getting what he needs.
Light shining round breaking up the sky
It’s all coming down in the middle of the night.

Slow dancing in the city
Moving and turning the motion never ends
Slow dancing in the city
Slow dancin’ . . .

Stand on any corner, yeah you can feel the pull
Pulls from all directions, no way to be still
Yeah, everywhere there is something going on, I tell myself.
One moments fight's just another’s sound,
Life after life, you can feel it all around

Slow dancing in the city
Moving and turning the motion never ends
Slow dancing in the city
Slow dancin’ . . .

Round and round it goes, ____________
There’s always someone in line for the next dance
Show anybody, they won’t be the same,
It’s just a moment away from the last chance.
Slow dancin’

Slow dancing in the city
Moving and turning the motion never ends
Slow dancing in the city
Moving and turning the motion never ends
Slow dancing in the city
Slow dancing in the city, yeah
Slow dancing in the city, yeah, yeah
Slow dancin’. . . oh
Slow dancing in the city, yeah, yeah, yeah,
Slow dancing in the city, oh, oh
Slow dancing in the city, oh it’s so, so slow
Slow dancing in the city, oh
Slow dancing in the city

Somebody Loves You
(Peter Bunch and Bob Cowsill)
Lead Singer: Bob Cowsill

So here you are, it could be better, but it’s all right.
Yeah you get by, a little lonely, but you make it through the night.
You know there’s something missing yet you still go on.
But when you stop to worry, well just remember.

Somebody loves you, only got to give it time.
Somebody loves you, and all you got to do is keep on trying.
Yeah, yeah, somebody loves you.

Well you're in love/you've been worse? but then you found that it was all wrong, yeah
And every time, oh how it hurt, makes it so hard to go on.
And you begin to wonder, think it might not change
And nothing seems to matter, well just keep waiting, waiting.

Somebody loves you, only got to give it time.
Somebody loves you, and all you got to do is keep on trying.
Yeah, yeah, somebody loves you.

And every day goes by a little slower
And you keep waiting to find a friend in the night. Yeah, yeah ...

So here you are, it could get better, but it’s all right, all right
Yeah you get by, you’re a little lonely but you know it’s going to be just fine.
Cause when you think about it now, you understand,
You know you’re gonna make it if you keep waiting, waiting.

Somebody loves you, only got to give it time.
Somebody loves you, and all you got to do is keep on trying.
Yeah, yeah, somebody loves you.
And all you got to do is keep on trying,
Yeah, yeah, somebody loves you.
And all you got to do is keep on trying,
Yeah, yeah, somebody loves you.
(Somebody loves you) Somebody loves you
(Somebody loves you) Somebody loves you
(Somebody loves you) Somebody loves you
(Somebody loves you) Somebody loves you

She's My Girl
(Peter Bunch and Bob Cowsill)
Lead Singer:

Oh, no

That girl sure drives me crazy
Can’t count the ways she plays me
I’m not complaining, but it’s true
I don’t mean that I’m defenseless
But she drives me from my senses
Never know just what she plans to do

Well let me tell you
She’s all that I want
She’s so fine, can’t love her enough.
She’s my girl.
She’s all that I want
She’s got what I need
Just let me be with my girl.
She’s my girl.

She fills me with desire
I try and satisfy her
I can’t remember all the ways, no
Does she ever say I’m something
No, she never tells me nothing
But I want her more and more each day

Well let me tell you
She’s all that I want
She’s so fine, can’t love her enough.
She’s my girl.
She’s all that I want
She's got what I need
Just let me be with my girl.
She’s my girl.

And when she’s gone I’m not alone, she’s my girl.
I want it all, but does she know, she’s my girl.
Don’t ever want to let her go, she’s my girl, yeah.

That girl sure drives me crazy
Can’t count the ways she plays me
I’m not complaining, but it’s true, yeah,
I don’t mean that I’m defenseless
But she drives me from my senses
And I want her more and more each day
Well let me tell you
She’s all that I want
She’s so fine, I can’t love her enough.
She’s my girl.
She’s all that I want
She’s got what I need
Just let me be with my girl.
She’s all that I want
She’s so fine, can’t love her enough.
She’s my girl.
She’s all that I want
She’s got what I need
Just let me be with my girl.

The World We Live In
(Peter Bunch and Bob Cowsill)
Lead Singer: Peter Bunch
See Notes

Room was in shambles, found him on the floor
Victim of three axe murders,
His clothes were all torn, arm gone from the socket
Legs in the hallway, head in the closet.

That this could happen in the world we live in, I don’t get it. I don’t get it.
How could happen in the world we live in, (the world we live in), well just forget it.

Frozen smile looks up from the debris
Red freckled face loved by you and me
Even that famous red bandana
Cut so bad that you could hardly mend it.

That this could happen in the world we live in, I don’t get it. I don’t get it.
How could happen in the world we live in, (the world we live in), well just forget it.

Maybe we just should leave and try to find some place
Where they still make believe and everybody’s safe,
But in our hearts we know there wouldn't be no use
Cause everywhere we go the world is still the same.

Hi, how you’d doing, are you doing Doody good
Put you back together as best that Doody could.
I wish that I had been there, never would have happened.
Thought that it was funny, but nobody’s laughin’.

How could this happen in the world we live in, I don’t get it. I don’t get it.
That this could happen in the world we live in, just forget it. (uh huh)
How could happen in the world we live in, I don’t get it. I don’t get it.
That this could happen in the world we live in, (the world we live in),
This is the world we live in (the world we live in),
This is the world we live in (the world we live in),
This is the world we live in (the world we live in), well just forget it.

Nuclear Winter
(Peter Bunch and Bob Cowsill)
Lead Singer: Peter Bunch and Bob Cowsill
See Notes

I watch the northern sky, I watch it every night,
I’m alone in the silo, just waiting and I don’t know why.
I try and understand. I do the best I can
But I’ll never be ready and it makes me feel crazy inside.

There's something that's going on,
I get the feeling it won’t be long,
Until the world is wound up so tight, it’s ready to break.
So I hold my breath cause I don’t want a nuclear winter.
Where it’s more than cold and the night time never ends.
And I close my eyes cause I don’t want a nuclear winter.
I don’t want a nuclear winter. I don’t want a nuclear winter.

I read the morning news. I can’t believe it’s true.
When the left says they’re right and the right thinks the left is to blame.
I watch their anger grow. What if they lose control?
All I know is that things get a little bit worse every day, yeah.

There is something that's doing on,
I get the feeling it won’t be long,
Until the world is wound up so tight, it’s ready to break.
So I hold my breath cause I don’t want a nuclear winter.
Where it’s more than cold and the night time never ends.
And I close my eyes cause I don’t want a nuclear winter.
I don’t want a nuclear winter. I don’t want a nuclear winter.

Yeah, I don't ever want to free the bomb that burn bright as the sun.
I don’t ever want to see the day where everything I know is gone, gone. (chant “left, right, left, right”)

So I hold my breath cause I don’t want a nuclear winter.
Where it’s more than cold and the night time never ends, no.
And I close my eyes cause I don’t want a nuclear winter.
I don’t want a nuclear winter. I don’t want a nuclear winter.
I don’t want a nuclear winter.
I don’t want a nuclear winter.
I don’t want a nuclear winter.
(chant “left, right, left, right”)

Toni
(Peter Bunch and Bob Cowsill)
Lead Singer: Bob Cowsill
See Notes

(yeah yeah)
Mama wants the procedure
She wants to make sure they tell her everything
Toni’s standing behind her
Never looks up, never says anything, no, no.

They want Toni to hear them
Say, “You wait here. We’ll be back soon.
But first there's someone you need to see."
In comes a blue; gives her the third degree. Yes, he gives her the third degree.

Toni, all I know is that when I look at you I can only see you crying, yeah.
Toni, all I hear is dirty talk and jokes. Toni, don’t they know you’re cryin?

Cop says she looks older
Way over 16, she probably led him on
Doc says, want to book her?
It's clear to him that Toni’s been there before, well Toni’s been there before.

Toni, all I know is when I look at you I can only see you crying, yeah.
Toni, all I hear is dirty talk and jokes. Toni, don’t they know you’re cryin?

She didn’t really want to run away.
She couldn’t take it another day.
I wish that she had known.
She said I'm late walking with a friend.
She didn’t notice someone followin'.
I wish that she had known. I wish that she had known. I wish that she had known.

Toni, all I know is that when I look at you I can only see you crying, yeah.
Toni, all I hear is dirty talk and jokes. Toni, don’t they know you’re cryin? Yeah yeah
Toni, all I hear is dirty talk and jokes. Toni, don’t they know you’re cryin? Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Toni
Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh

Maybe It's You
(Peter Bunch and Bob Cowsill)
Lead Singer: Bob Cowsill
See Notes

Every morning, first thing when I wake up,
You start another fight.
You tell me every little thing that I do wrong.
Never seem to get it right.
Doesn't matter what I do or say,
It's just never quite enough.
You get down on every little detail,
You just won't let up.

Maybe it's you who should think about listening.
Maybe it's you one time needs to give in.
Then you might find out what you've been missing.
Maybe it's you.
There's always something that I've done to drive you crazy,
You always let me know.
You turn it into a bad situation,
and then you never let it go.

Well I don't know how much you think I'll take,
But I won't take no more.
So just wait a minute, think before you start in,
I've heard it all before.
Maybe it's you should think about listening.
Maybe it's you one time needs to give in.
Then you might find out what you've been missing.
Maybe it's you. Maybe it's you. Yeah maybe it's you, huh.

Let me tell you I'm so tired of your imagination.
I don't know how you do it but you do.
You turn it all around.
You turn everything around.
You know that it's true.

Come on and let me see you be the first one,
To try and make it up.
You know we only got a little bit of time left,
Before we give it up.

Now don't you try to throw it back to me,
It comes down to you.
Better take another look at what you're doing.
You might learn something new.

Maybe it's you should be think about listening.
Maybe it's you one time needs to give in.
Maybe it's you that never wants to make love.
Maybe it's you don't know what your missing.

Maybe it's you should think about listening.
Maybe it's you one time needs to give in.

Where Is Your Love
(Peter Bunch and Bob Cowsill)
Lead Singer:Peter Bunch and Bob Cowsill

Yeah, Yeah,

When it’s late at night and I think of you, it’s a mystery
Cause you tell me things that I want to hear, then you say it was all make believe.
Well, I must be missing something cause I don’t understand
I feel the heat coming from you when you whisper to me real low then you run away
Tell me what are you trying to do?

Where is your love?
Don’t try and hide it from me
You know that just isn’t right.
Where is your love?
Come on and let me see it
Where is your love tonight?

Tell me nothing’s wrong when you get so close, then you shy away. (shy away)
When you start to leave, and you say goodnight, I can tell you don’t mean what you say.
What I need to do is hold you, yeah, take you in my arms and show you the way it should be.
You don’t need to be so worried, no need to be afraid. Now why won’t you listen to me.

Where is your love?
Don’t try and hide it from me
You know that just isn’t right.
Where is your love?
Come on and let me see it
Where is your love tonight?<

You need to listen close cause baby it’s down to this.
What I know is that you know that it won’t be bad,
You can take a chance tonight.
Go on, this time, let go
We can take a chance, yeah.

Where is your love?
Don’t try and hide it from me
You know that just isn’t right.
Where is your love?
Come on and let me see it
Where is your love tonight?
Where is your love?
Where is your love?
Where is your love?
Where is your love?
Where is your love?
Where is your love?
Where is your love?

You Are The Only One
(Peter Bunch and Bob Cowsill)
Lead Singer: Peter Bunch

I don’t know what to think about you
Cause you will never do the things that you say but you will
You’re always on the run,
And when I try to find you, you’re already gone
And so it goes on and on
I keep waiting for you but it’s been so long

After it’s all been said and done, you are the only one.
Don’t make me spend tonight all alone.
Cause you are the only one.

Maybe I just should let it all go
And then I might find a way to break out, I don’t know.
But why can’t I decide.
There’s something about you that calls out to me
And time keeps going by and I need to get closer, I want you to see.

After it’s all been said and done, you are the only one.
Don’t make me spend tonight all alone.
Cause you are the only one. (the only, only one)

Cause oh I wonder, oh I wonder, what you’re doing and what you’re thinking
I need to see you, I need to greet you and get the message and get it to you.
Cause I’ve been thinking and I remember you used to say you loved me too. (how you loved me too.)

After it’s all been said and done, you are the only one.
Don’t make me spend tonight all alone.
Cause you are the only one.
After it’s all been said and done, you are the only one.
Don’t make me spend tonight all alone.
Cause you are the only one.

All I Want
(Peter Bunch and Bob Cowsill)
Lead Singer: Bob Cowsill

You look at me and can’t you see, I’m sad,
And you want to help me when I’m feeling bad
You try and hold me real close and make everything all right some how.

But I’m feeling something, baby, you should know.
I think I’ll hurt you if I don’t let go.
When I touch a heart, I break it.
And I just don’t want to make it yours
I want to make it yours.

All I want is to be close to you
Hold you tight, baby, that’s all I want to do.
All I want is to be close to you
But I gotta get away. I gotta get away.

I’m telling you, but you don’t understand
I had to do the only thing I can
I’m leaving before it’s too late,
Cause I just don’t want to take you down. I don’t want to take you down.

All I want is to be close to you
Hold you tight, oh babe, that’s all I want to do.
All I want is to be close to you
But I gotta get away. I gotta get away.

I don’t know what to do.
I can’t seem to change
I'd give the world to you.
But I’m so afraid, afraid of losing you.
Cause what I’m thinking of, afraid of being cruel
If I give my love. If I give my love.
If I give my love. If I give my love.

All I, all I, all I , all I (repeat) All I want is to be close to you
All I, all I, all I , all I (repeat) Hold you tight, yeah, yeah It’s all I want
All I, all I, all I , all I (repeat) All I want is to be close to you
All I, all I, all I , all I (repeat) yeah, yeah
All I, all I, all I , all I (repeat) All I want is to be close to you
All I, all I, all I , all I (repeat) All I want is to be close to you

The World We Live In
Bob shares that this is about the day Howdy Doody’s glass case holding the original marionette from the series was broken into and Howdy Doody was hacked up and tossed all over the place…arms and legs everywhere… a terrible act of vandalism. A tree surgeon put him back together. Check out an article about this from 1985.

Vandals Make Mark On Changing World
October 14, 1985 | By Bob Greene
It`s not the major headline stories that tell us the most about what is happening to our world; sometimes the smaller news items speak much more eloquently of what is going on.
And so it is that the most telling and symbolic story of the year is the mugging of Howdy Doody.
If you saw the story at all, it was probably in one of those "people" columns that boil news of "personalities" down to one paragraph. The news was that the original Howdy Doody marionette had been assaulted and damaged in a New York suburb.
It seemed to me that there was more there than could be reported in a brief item. So I got in touch with Howdy Doody`s owner--E. Roger Muir, the former executive producer of the old Howdy Doody television show.
"It happened, all right," Muir said. "It`s enough to make you sick."
Muir oversaw the production of "The Howdy Doody Show" during its legendary years on NBC television from 1947 to 1960. During those years, Howdy --the grinning, freckle-faced marionette--became beloved to a generation of American children, and an unwitting symbol of what this country was like during simpler and perhaps happier times.
Muir now is a partner in a video production firm in Larchmont, N.Y. When he came to work one morning, he saw immediately that burglars had broken into his offices.
"Whoever did it completely ransacked the place," he said. "They came in during the night, and they uprooted potted plants, they destroyed three television sets, they threw everything around.``
On the floor, amid the debris, Muir found Howdy Doody.
"They had assaulted him and torn him apart," Muir said. "Howdy`s head was in one room. They had ripped his right arm off, and that was in another room. And the rest of his body was thrown in a third room. His clothes were all torn.``
Muir picked up Howdy Doody`s smiling head, and all he could think about was how twisted things had become in our modern society. He knew that the crime rate was high; he even knew that some criminals routinely vandalized and destroyed the homes and offices they burglarized. But casually destroying Howdy Doody?
"Howdy had been displayed in a trophy case in my office," Muir said.
"He was one of the three original Howdys that still remain. The children who watched the show thought there was only one, but we used three Howdys for different purposes at different times.
"Seeing Howdy torn into pieces . . . it made me just sick to my stomach. He had this big gash on his face; it looked like they had stomped on him. I don`t know why it affected me so strongly, but it did. There was just no reason for anyone to do this.
"Some witnesses saw three men running away from the office. They appeared to be between 18 and 22; they probably didn`t even know who Howdy Doody was. In a way, that`s fortunate; if they had known how valuable Howdy was, they would have taken him instead of ripping him apart, and then we`d never have seen him again."
One of the first things that Muir did after notifying the police was to call Buffalo Bob Smith, the genial human host who appeared on TV with Howdy for all those years.
"Buffalo Bob was just sick about it, too," Muir said. "He was almost in a state of shock. He kept saying, `Why would anyone do such a thing?' "
Muir got in touch with Pady Blackwood, a New York puppet master who specializes in the repair of dolls and marionettes. Blackwood said he would attempt to repair Howdy.
"When Howdy was brought to me, I couldn`t believe what I was seeing," Blackwood said."`It was as if he was the victim of an ax-murderer.
"They brought me a suitcase full of parts, basically. Luckily, Howdy`s body is made of wood, so it was pretty sturdy. But his face is more brittle; there was a lot of damage."
Blackwood worked for more than a week putting Howdy back together. "I felt very emotional when I was doing it," he said."I grew up in Kansas City; our family didn`t have a television in the late `40s and early `50s, and I would go down to the local furniture store after school every day. There was a TV set there, and I would watch `Howdy Doody.` It was the first thing that got me interested in puppets and marionettes. And now . . . this."
The surgery was a qualified success. Howdy`s arm was sewn back on, and so was his head. There are suture marks where the neck and head are joined, but Howdy`s famous bandanna covers the scars.
E. Roger Muir has tightened security precautions in his offices; there are new locks, and Howdy has been stored in a new case. But Muir realizes that all the precautions in the world can`t change the basic message of what has happened.
"We now live in a world where someone would do something like this to Howdy Doody," he said. "There`s no getting around that."

Nuclear Winter
This was shared as a rarity on Cowsill.com awhile ago and at that time, Bob had this to say about it: “The song Nuclear Winter was written by me and Peter Bunch after we were sitting around talking one day wondering what it was like to be one of those soldiers that work in the silos where the missiles are kept.”

Toni
At a solo show in the 1990s, Bob explained the genesis of this song

Maybe It's You
This one was regularly included in Cowsill shows back in the 1990s (even being sung once in a show by Susan) and was even recorded during the Global sessions but didn’t make it on to the album. This is where it originated.
