As Is Liner Notes

As Is

As Is - Lud Von Records - 1998

Although not part of the liner notes, the following are Bob's comments about As Is. "From my perspective Barry has entered his "age of enlightment" phase. He's produced a terrific CD, his webpage is almost ready and we will be linking to that shortly and he has obviously stepped forward into the light as a prolific songwriter and, as always, a great singer. Barry could step on a stage with any of us and hold his own at any given moment, hi fact, with no one else on stage he would be riveting and hold his own. "Train" is a great song and "Old Timeless**, "Legends Of Love* and "Anthem" are all great pieces of work, just to name a few off of As Is."

Train

Ever since I hopped my first train, I've never been the same. So now you can all blame it on the train. Wasn't a Conductor - jus' a Traveler. Bass and Vocal: Peter Holsapple Drums: Carlo Nuccio Produced by: Paul Dugre

River Of Love

We're all reaching out anyways - arn't we? Bass and Vocal: Peter Holsapple Drums: Carlo Nuccio Produced by: Paul Dugre

Another Was A Brother

Every musician's plight into the music industry. Recorded in the insollent (I've got a track record!) Ketih Keller's Chez Flames Studio in New Orleans. He's a Teddy Bear really. He also produced it. Me on everything.

Bombay

Where I'd rather be most of the time. A Neo-Mythical state of mind no doubt - I dare you to try to get THERE. Drums: Carlo Nuccio Guitar: Peter Holsapple Produced by Peter as well.

Anthem

Somewhere over the rainbow. Never did think it was in the back yard anyways. Me on Everything.

When Hearts Collide

Inspired by The Color Purple - when Master separated the two sisters who had that sing-song thing as they were parting. Bass and Vocal: Peter Holsapple Drums: Carlo Nuccio Produced by: Peter Holsapple.

Chain You Down

For every guy who's afraid he can't get the girl. Bass and Vocal: Peter Holsapple Drums: Carlo Nuccio Produced by: Paul Dugre.

Sweet n' Dirty Girl

Now ... this one ... ahem ... was produced and written by the notorious LeRoy P. Marinell and the tolerant Jim Tullio. Roy wrote Werewolves of London and co-wrote Excitable Boy with some other notorious notables. (by the way, "V.E.G." in the first verse means Very-Evil-Grin.) Oi-Roy and quite frankly, having a notorious song on this CD is adventurous in it's own right. All instruments were Roy and Jim with a Drum Loop from the infamous New Orleans Drummer, Big John Tommesey.

Kid

Perfect for gang members. Produced by: Ray Ganucheau (gonna-show)

Wild Thing

The Troggs and Jimi did their version, figured I'd do mine.

My Car Don't Lock

I was in a parking lot, sittin' in my car having a beer in Santa Barbara where the girls are all rich, beautiful ... and snotty. One was passing by when I slurred out "my car don't lock honey" sans: "I don't wanna chain you down girl" ... so much for a love life. Produced by: Ray Ganucheau (gonna-show) - I played the instruments.

Right or Wrong

I was raised a catholic, and I believe in forgiveness at all costs. Bass and Vocal: Peter Holsapple Drums: Carlo Nuccio Produced by: Paul Dugre.

Crack Alley

I was on top of a building in downtown Los Angeles with friend "Jungle George"; he paged me to join him in a glance at an alley below, where they were dealing crack. As I reflected there on the situation I saw below me, I remarked, "Damn, Geraldo would love this." Bass and Vocal: Peter Holsapple Drums: Carlo Nuccio Produced by: Peter Holsapple. The only live recording so far - Good work Guys.

Road So Low

My Steven King, Dark Matinee Tune. Believe me - this song was actually lived through (minus the "forever-night horizons"); 'cause life jus' isn't a skipping record. Produced by: Keith Keller. I played the instruments.

Legends of Love

The ultimate in anyone's goal - to attain the pie-in-the-sky with one who soars with you. I did everything on this one.

O! Timeless

The pilgrim's pilgrimage tune.
