Musicians remember fallen friends through new recordings

"Is it any wonder?,"

Eugene Edwards

(Flagship Recordings)

Los Angeles-based rock singer/songwriter Eugene Edwards has a new single on Triple A radio, released Monday; a Bob Cowsill composition entitled "Is It Any Wonder?"

The song serves as a tribute to two Cowsills brothers who passed away in recent months: New Orleans resident Barry lost his life in Hurricane Katrina, and Billy passed away after a lengthy illness in February at home in Calgary, Alberta.

The new single is a unique one: it doesn't currently appear on Edwards' album, "My Favorite Revolution" (although the song will probably be stripped onto future copies), but Flagship Recordings head Marc Nathan went old school in matching "a great song with a great artist."

The Cowsills were one of the biggest pop acts of the late '60s and the real-life inspiration for the Partridge Family. Siblings Bill, Bob, Barry, John, Susan and Paul, along with mother Barbara, climbed the charts with sunny harmonies, enjoying hits with songs like "The Rain, the Park and Other Things" and "Hair."

Nathan met the family in the early '90s and loved their new material as much as the classic songs that brought them acclaim. This is a shimmering, wonderful power-pop performance. Get a copy locally, download it from iTunes or shop online at www.flagshiprecordings.com.
