For those Anderson area youth who are tired of going to the same places for dating entertainment, we of “Youth Seen” will be giving a list periodically of special events going on at nearby college campuses. This week a portion of the Creative Arts Calendar of Ball State University is featured.
Bud Cowsill, father of the singing Cowsill clan, phoned to disclose he’s more than a little upset at MGM Record Prexy Mike Curb, particularly undone about Mike’s statement to me that the Cowsills have pretty much had it, have ridden the crest of their popularity.
True, eldest son Bill is no longer with the group following a family squabble last winter. But, Papa Bud made it clear, the gang’s surviving professionally without him. He said the family has been packing ‘em in during their 90-day personal appearance tour around the country which winds up in November in Dayton. Not only that, he asked me to inform Curb, but they’ve been making plenty of guest appearances and are signed for a Far East tour in February. And, in one final pot shot at MGM Records, with whom the Cowsills recently severed connections, Bub said that the only reason the family hasn’t signed with a new label is because they’ve been having trouble deciding which deal to take. Three different companies are after them, he said. Ridden the crest, indeed!, is his retort to Curb.
