SANTA ROSALIA, Mexico --- William "Bud" Cowsill, 66, of Campo Lopez, father of the singing group The Cowsills, died Sept. 29 aboard a flight over Ensenada, Baja, while enroute to Tijuana and the Naval Hospital at San Diego. He was taken to the General Hospital in Santa Rosalia. He was the husband of the late Barbara Russell.
Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Cowsill. Mr. Cowsill attended Providence public schools and joined the Navy at the age of 17, retiring as a Navy officer 20 years later.
He leaves six sons, William Cowsill of Vancouver, British Columbia, Richard Cowsill of New York, Robert Cowsill of Canoga Park, Calif., Paul Cowsill of Montrose, Calif., Barry Cowsill of New Orleans and John Cowsill of Ojai, Calif.; a daughter, Susan Cowsill, of Burbank, Calif; a sister Eleanor Worley, of Glendale, Calif., 16 grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
