The Cowsills, the seven-member singing family that has conquered the recording industry and television, are in the midst of a two-week engagement at the Flamingo Hotel.

The Cowsills share top billing with comedian Dick Shawn. The Juliet Prowse Show follows in the Flamingo showroom on March 6.

The Cowsills was originally a folk-rock duo consisting of Bob (19) and Bill (20) Cowsill, who performed at amateur shows and talent contests. Their younger brother Barry (14) joined the group in 1960 as a drummer, but later switched to bass when brother John (12) took over as a drummer.

In the summer of 1967 they signed with MGM Records, their mother, Barbara Cowsill, joined the group and they had their first hit, "The Rain, The Park and Other Things." Susan (9) and Paul Cowsill (17) soon got into the act, bringing the Cowsills to their present strength.

In the last year The Cowsills have recorded four more hit tunes ("We Can Fly," "In Need of a Friend," "Indian Lake" and "Poor Baby"), have completed a successful college concert tour and have starred in their own NBC-TV special. They have also been featured on the Jonathan Winters Show, Operation Entertainment, Hollywood Palace, Kraft Music Hall and the Ed Sullivan Show.

The family recently signed a million-dollar contract by the American Dairy Association to endorse milk and other dairy products.
