In a surprise move last week EMI Records and MGM Records terminated a 20-year association when the American indie switched its pressing and distribution outlet to Pye Records.

While the diskery accepts that it takes time to initiate a break-through for unknown British talent which it is trying to develop, the failure to reflect any of MGM's American chart action, particularly with artists of the sales potential of the Cowsills, has-been a sore point.
