Record producer Wes Farrell has started recording songs from the first "Partridge Family" episode for inclusion in the first album of the music from the upcoming new fall series on ABC-TV.

Screen Gems' strategy on the series, a sitcom with music starring Shirley Jones, calls for release of the album and at least one single this summer, so that September premier will kick off (hopefully) with an established record hit lead-in hypo factor. The plan follows the previously successful concept used on "The Monkees" and "The Archies" tv series. Records will be released by Bell Records, another division of Screen Gems' parent, Columbia Pictures Industries.

The "Partridge Family" resembles the true-life Cowsills family in that the act comprises kids and their mother.
