The Cowsills, singing family of five sons, one daughter and mother, will henceforth diversify their activity, it was revealed over the weekend. Mom Barbara will devote more time to talk and panel shows, nine-year-old Susan will be headed for film roles through CMA and the five boys, ranging in age from 12 to 20, will continue with vocals and instrumentals through disks and p.a.'s.
According to a family spokesman, "the switch will be gradual, with all participating as a unit on specific occasions." Combo is booked into San Carlos Jan. 3-5 and at Melodyland, Anaheim, Jan. 11.
In past three years as diskers for the MGM label, Cowsills have clicked with six singles and four albums. They recently did a spec for NBC-TV.
