Barry Cowsill “US1” includes all the recordings that he had just finished before his untimely death in New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina in 2005. While Rolling Stone magazine stated that the “Cowsills helped make flower-power music palatable to the mainstream,” rocker Peter Holsapple of the dBs and REM’s touring band described his impressions of the Barry Cowsill solo recordings as having “the soul and intensity of Neil Young and Keith Richards, very different from the Cowsills legacy.” Danny Preston, Music Director at KNBA FM further defines the 13 songs on the “US1” recording as "Solid blues-rock, contemporary and timely."
