Over the holidays, the legendary surf music group Jan and Dean sent out a limited-edition promotional single. One side is Jan and Dean and backing group the Bel-Air Bandits doing a Chinese folk song from the upcoming "Jan and Dean Live in China" TV special. The other side, though, is Dean and two band members with a decidedly comic version of "Oh What A Beautiful Morning," recorded in one of those cut-your-own record booths at the Tulsa State Fair. The group performed at the Fair last year, and, according to manager Bill Hollinghead, Dean, Chris Farmer and Phil Bardowell were just going down the midway and decided to pop in and cut the song.
