Feb. 18: Billy Cowsill
He was the former singer for 1960s hit-makers the Cowsills (famous for Hair and The Rain, The Park and Other Things). At one point Cowsill was supposed to be the Keith Partridge character in the Partridge Family, which was modeled on his family band. But he left the group after a fight with his father and settled in Vancouver, where he was a fixture on the local scene, both as a solo act and with country-rock bands like The Blue Shadows and Blue Northern.
He died at age 58 in Calgary after battling health problems for several years.
