A fresh breeze of sorts is blowing through the local music scene. Not a gale strong enough to whoosh the wallowing beast out of the doldrums, mind you, but things have been picking up.

Billy Cowsill: Possibly the best male country vocalist in these parts, Cowsill has amused pub and club goers for years with his set of Dead Guys tunes, but much more important are his self-penned gems such as Johnny’s Guitar, Flaming Embers and Vagabond. Not even Joe Ely does a better version of She Never Spoke Spanish To Me.
