"They (The Turtles) had a vocal sound that was probably the best ever from a group that wasn't related," he says. "The Cowsills, the Everly Brothers, the Beach Boys, they were all family acts. No one had better harmonies than the Turtles. That's the soundtrack of my life, living in Southern California, hearing music made by other Southern Californians. Let's face it, if you don't feel happy after listening to the Turtles, you're dead."
