Cowsills

"Hey Mom" says 10-year-old Susan Cowsill as she shows off the red carpet given to the singing group by the Chamber of Commerce as it arrived at the Sunport today. The famous singing family known as "The Cowsills" arrived in Albuquerque today amid the shrill screams and yelling and abouts of more than 200 young Albuquerque fans most of them girls.

The popular group will be featured at 7:30 tonight in concert at the Civic Auditorium.

The Cowsills current single release, "Hair" has topped record popularity charts in recent weeks.

Other Groups

"The Cowsills" are to be joined tonight by a famous hard rock band called "Sweatwater" and two local groups known as "Tommy G and The Mud" and "The Bounty Hunters."

Although the Cowsills flight did not arrive until 9:30 a.m. the fans started milling around gate seven at the Sunport before 8 a.m.

Every jet that taxied into the terminal touched off a roar of shouts and screams followed by silence. "That isn't their plane," a restless fan would sigh.

Greetings

Fay Weber, program director of the Rio Grande Dairy Council, and Gene Straham of the Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce formally greeted the family.

Mr. Straham rolled out the Chamber's famous Red Carpet and Mrs. Weber gave "Mom" Cowsill and little Susan souvenir roadrunner pins. To the boys, Bob, 19, John, 18, Barry, 14 and Paul, 17, Mrs. Weber gave Roadrunner tie tacks.

Bob Cowsill, upon receipt of his tie tack asked, "Do roadrunners fly?"
