'Hair' brings '60s experience back to Opera House

All of that streaming gleaming, flaxen, waxed hair from the '60s is either turning gray, getting styled, or receding dangerously.

However, the producers of this national touring production believe that the time is right for "Hair" to one again fly in the breeze and get caught in the trees, as the Cowsills once trilled.

In fact, Rolling Stone magazine recently chose the original Broadway cast album as one of the Top 25 albums of the '60s. The show's musical score, by Galt MacDermot, Gerome Ragni and James Rado, is full of songs that have become familiar pop standards: "Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In," "Good Morning, Starshine," "Easy To Be Hard" and "Hair." These songs were made into hits in the late '60s by (in the order listed above) The Fifth Dimension, Oliver, Three Dog Night and the Cowsills.
