Whenever Hootie and the Blowfish paid a visit to Charlotte in years past, they'd usually play a place called Amos's, a 500-seat joint that would be packed to the gills by the time the Columbia band took the stage.
Tuesday night, Hootie and 12,000 of its fans spread out in the spacious confines of Charlotte's Memorial Stadium . . .

Hootie's version of Don Dixon's "I Go Blind" earned a rousing response, and Rucker did a powerful job of singing (he must be getting tired of constantly hearing about his "emotive belting") on "Look Away" and "The Earth Stopped Cold at Dawn." That featured Susan Cowsill's wonderful job of singing the vocal parts that Nanci Griffith sang on "Fairweather Johnson." (Cowsill is married to Holsapple.)
