BURBANK – Two days, a world of difference.
A measly 48 hours was all it took for Van Nuys-Notre Dame pitcher Ryan Cowsill to go from underwhelming to overpowering, incomprehensible to indestructible.
After a 6-0 record in the regular legion season, Cowsill allowed eight runs on nine hits against the Newhall-Sturgus Hart American Legion team Friday – then got redemption striking out 10 in six innings of shutout ball to beat hart, 7-0, in Sunday’s District 20 championship game at Burroughs-Burbank High.
“It was definitely redemption – revenge and redemption,” Cowsill said. “Coming in I knew I was going to have to keep the ball down. Friday, I let it get up. They have some great hitters, so I knew I would have to keep the ball down.”
