The Cowsills - five teens and their mother - hit the rock scene last fall with "The Rain, the Park, and Other Things," and the song put them at the top of the hit charts. In their initial MGM album, "Cowsills," the group sings that hit and other songs with a freshness that comes with their youth. Among the betters songs on the disc are "La Rue du Soleil," a ballad that deserves to catch on; "Pennies," "Dreams of Linda," and "Getting Into That Sunny, Sunny Feelin' Again." Like the Jefferson Airplane and the First Edition, there are five boys and one girl, but the Cowsills have their own unique style - more carefree and simply clean.
