Every so often when the sun and moon and stars are aligned just so, the crazies come out to party. Such is the case in the coming week when the 8th Annual Pelican Bent-a-Fit Ball makes its annual appearance. (Thursday Dec. 6 at The Club of Monterey)

This year's musical interludes will include former Frank Zappa cohorts (former Mothers of Invention, that is), Don Preston and Bunk Gardner (with the Don Preston Jazz Quartet - they play "heavy metal jazz"); former Cowsills member trying to break out of typecasting, Barry Cowsill; local rockers Bombay (led by guitarist-vocalist Dale Kurokawa of Jet and Medflys fame); Rhino Boy and Jane Sentner; blues band Strange Brew; the Michael Kainer Band, Josh Mars and comedian Shawn Mello, as well as some surprise guests, undoubtedly.
