Susan Cowsill and her band will bring their Lighthouse Tour to Norman as part of the Summer Breeze concert series at Lion Park, 400 S. Flood Ave. The concert starts at 7 p.m. Sunday.
Cowsill is a singer songwriter who plays guitar, percussion and occasionally drums.
Band members are Russ Broussard on drums, rub board, percussion and guitar; Mary Lasseigne on bass and vocals; Sam Craft on violin, guitar, keyboards and vocals; and Jack Craft on guitar, keyboards, cello and vocals.
Cowsill began her career in 1967 with her family’ group, The Cowsills.
She also has worked as a vocalist for Dwight Twilley, Redd Kross, The Smithereens, Giant Sand, Nancy Griffith, Carlene Carter and Jules Shear.
Her compositions have been covered by the Bangles and Hootie and the Blowfish. In 1991, she joined the alternative pop group The Continental Drifters and moved to New Orleans.
She released her first solo album, “Just Believe It,” in 2005.
The album’s success was overshadowed by the deaths of her brothers Billy and Barry and the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. Her second album, “Lighthouse,” reflects the hard won lessons of those experiences.
