Twenty one years have passed since Paulo Maines and a few of his buddies invited some friends over to his Longwood farm for an outdoor party.
They celebrated with live music, beer and about 20 barbecued armadillos.
The party grew into a yearly event that attracted local and national acts, including Vince Gill and The Marshall Tucker Band.
On Saturday, 800 to 1,000 musicians and friends will gather again for Dilla Fest. Many who show up are fans who come each year.

The headliner will be the Continental Drifters, a six-piece band that includes a former member of the Bangles, the Cowsills and dB’s.
Also featured will be singer Peter Holsapple, best known as the unofficial fifth member of R.E.M. Holsapple played keyboards on Hootie and The Blowfish’s last world tour.
