. . .
How about cultural events? One such took place June 24, 1969, the day on which the lemming-like run of female traffic was noted on the Cargill-Northwestern bridge.
An advertisement in The Star the day before described it. A drawing of seven smiling young men, each with an extremely full head of hair, and the words, "The Cowsills Are Coming," called attention to a Teen Board Autograph Party, at which record albums of the Cowsills ("MGM Recording Artists") were to be sold.
Donaldson's, the biggest store served by the skyway in question, was holding the party in its sixth floor auditorium from 12:30 to 3 p.m.
Who’s to say how many of the 600 extra females on the bridge that noon were Cowsills fans?
Instead of two columns, "Men" and "Women," perhaps skyway traffic counts forms that day should have had three: "Men," "Women," and "Teenyboppers."
