Cowsills

Susan Cowsill, who lost everything in Hurricane Katrina, will be a beneficiary of a Rubsville Inn Cabaret to aid Crescent City Musicians.

Starting this weekend, the Raubsville Inn Cabaret, in conjunction with the Salvation Army, will host a series of Sunday afternoon benefit shows to help New Orleans musicians left homeless by Hurricane Katrina.

First up is Crescent City blues harmonies player Johnny Sansone and the Delaware River All-Stars. Sunday’s four hour benefit will start at 2 p.m. Tickets are $10.

In co-owner John Franklin of Pleasant Valley, who performs under the name of Johnny Dock, was spurred to start the New Orleans Working Musicians Fund and organize the benefits because of his close ties to Sansone and another Louisiana performer who lost everything in the disaster, Susan Cowsill.

Cowsill, best known for her work with the ‘60s pop group the Cowsills (the real-life inspiration for TV’s “Partridge Family”) and the roots-pop band the Continental Drifters with ex-husband Peter Holsapple – performed at the Inn in late July, and will return for a benefit on Sept. 17.
