Kewaskum - Brick by Brick For Tanzania!
The Susan Cowsill Band performed a benefit concert Sunday in the Kewaskum High School. From New Orleans, Cowsill and her husband Russ Broussard are board members for Brick By Brick for Tanzania!, a year-old nonprofit founded by Kewaskum resident John Kenworthy to build preschools in that East African nation.
While Sunday's crowd could have been larger, Kenworthy said, counting all donations, pledges and admission tickets, the concert raised more tha $4,100, matching the nonprofits expectations.
The concert funds allows the organization to put on a roof, doors and windows on a two-room school expected to be finished next month, Kenworthy said. The group also is looking for a donor for its next project, a one-room preschool, which it plans to build next year. And another benefit concert is likely, he said. "We sure enjoyed it (Sunday), and Susan (Cowsill) says she enjoyed it and will play again any time."
