Cataloging all of our blessings: Doug McIntyre

Thanksgiving is a tough one. All that togetherness and appreciation for the bounty with which we have been blessed? Then there's the minefield of family faux paus to be navigated.

"Don't bring up the impeachment hearings!" you're warned. But after three glasses of Harvey's Bristol Cream it slips out and you find yourself in a heated exchange with your brother-in-law over Congressman Schiff's bulging eyes. Then cousin Roger gets his MAGA hat out of the car even though he promised he wouldn't bring it in the house and . . . well, thank God Thanksgiving is behind us. It's back to business, and by business, I mean Christmas.

. . .

From the mundane to the exotic, I get a stunning variety of catalogs: sweaters and Uggs in every color, thermal pullovers and Panda-patterned Snuggies galore, "Buddy Greco Swings Mancini" CDs from collector's catalogs or maybe the "Cowsills Greatest Hits." Remember them?

. . .
