Family Fare
February 2, 1996
Staten Island Advance
Staten Island, New York

The images on the walls pay homage to Jimi Hendrix, Robert Kennedy ad other notables from three decades ago. The bead curtains, whiskey-bottle candle holders covered with colorful crayon drippins and the large bubble print on the menu all onspire to evoke the era of Woodstock, love-ins, tie-dyed shirts and hippies

Oddly enough though, the setting is not some retro coffee house in Greenwich Village but the Burrito Bar on Forest Avenue in West Brighton.

. . .

The menu is extensive, offering a wide array of southwestern fare, and many of the dishes bear the name of rock groups from that era. So whether you prefer the heavier rock of the Doors or the lighter music of the Cowsills, you can dine on a dish that recalls that group.

. . .

While the menu offers several types of burritos, the Cowsills ($7.25) are recalled in a beef burrito that is served with a red chili sauce. The meat is tender and the sauce is mild.
