A few months ago, the Cowsills, a Rhode Island family, were on the verge of losing their 22-room Munster-like mansion. Today, they are one of the hottest properties on the pop music scene.

Meeting them at one of the press previews being staged by MGM records throughout the country, we found them to be a wholesome American family. Their relationship is based on love for each other, and their venture into the recording field, while bailing them out of their financial difficulties, is deep-rooted in the joy they have performing as a family unit.

The Cowsill Corporation includes Bill, Bob, Barry, and John, who comprise the nucleus of the performing group. Their mini-mommy, Barbara, who only sang in the kitchen just a few months ago, and 8-year-old Susan, now lend their voices to the boys' harmony as they all sing for their supper.

Bud Cowsill is the co-ordinator. Two other sons, Dick and Paul, who chose not to enter the performing end of the complex, keep equipment straight and in order throughout their journeys.

An album, "The Cowsills," just released, should provide a good yardstick for their future because it is timed to their countrywide debut.
