Two years ago the Cowsills made their network television debut on the NBC Television Network's "Today" show. They were introduced as a struggling family from Newport, R.I., determined to make a mark in the world of music.
Now one of the outstanding groups in the recording field, this amazing musical family will return to "Today" for one hour on Monday (7 to 8 a.m. PST) in color on NBC-TV.
Part of the program will focus on the performing group, with the four brothers (aged 11-19), Barbara (Mom) Cowsill, and 8-year-old Susie presenting a portion of their stage act. Following their performance, the family members who usually stay out of the spotlight, two teen-age brothers and their father, Bud Cowsill, will be interviewd by "Today" host Hugh Downs and Barbara Walters.
The "Today" special will mark the first time an in-dept look has been taken at the entire Cowsill family, telling their unusual story.
