The Beach Hotel at 30 Purgatory Road, Middletown, recently purchased for $250,000 by the operators of the Muenchinger - King Hotel, will be open in time for the Jazz Festival on July 1.
Paul Schawb, who bought the hotel with John Schawb and William Cowsill, said the outside of the building was being painted and the inside completely remodeled. The new owners said the hotel's operation will be completely different. They said even the name has been changed. The new name of the hotel is Eaton's Beach Motor Inn.
The renovated hotel will include a resturant. The owners said they will serve guests druing the festival but that the new restaurant will not be completed until the middle of July.
Paul Schawb said the hotel is being remodeled and will be ready to receive guests on July 1. He also said a new restaurant will be opened at the Beach Hotel. The hotel will be operated separately from the Muenchinger - King Hotel, he said.
