Raw Guitar

Bill Cowsill goes on wax as a solo on “Nervous Breakthrough” (MGM SE-4706).
He tries to slip out of the usual Cowsill Bubblegum sound. Perhaps a little more experience might help. Young Cowsill tried to meld bubblegum with a harder more electronic rock style. The album does include more instrumental sounds than expected, however.
On the tune “Nobody,” Cowsill gives this ballad a fairly smooth Dylan style accompanied by a raw guitar sound.
This young musician has the talent to create successful commercial sounds and may develop a distinctive sound of his own in time.
The only familiar “family” tune he does is “II x II,” the title of the last album featuring the entire Cowsill brood.
