The kids have been back to school for a couple of weeks and by now the teachers have figured out that we did not spend the summer practicing long division.
. . .
They learned to play pool at the Bear Trap Tap in Indian Lake, N.Y., (where they played "Indian Lake" by the Cowsills on the juke box until the management started to look threatening.) They paddled a canoe alone across a lake in Pennsylvania, arguing the entire way. They whittled twigs into speers and roasted hot dogs over a campfire.
