"True Voices" (The Right Stuff) is a tribute album with a twist: It honors various songwriters and most of the, ahem, tributaries are relative unknowns from the current crop of L.A./West Coast songwriters and studio musicians. Lucinda Williams, who herself wrote Mary Chapin Carpenter's "Passionate Kisses," sings Nick Drake's "Which Will" - and well. Pat Robertson does find with Del Shannon's "To Love Someone." Curiosities include a poem by rolled-up Stone Brian Jones set to music, plus Susan Cowsill of Cowsills fame doing Sandy Denny's "At the End of the Day."
