The Cowsills, nationally-famous musical family, will be the first headline attraction on the 1969 Oglebay Institute Summer Entertainment Series. The program will begin at 8:30 p.m. Thursday, June 19, in the Oglebay Park Amphitheatre.

Led by Barbara, the Cowsill’s mother, the group skyrocketed to national fame after their first recording, "The Rain, the Park and Other Things." This record saved the family and their twenty-two-room mansion in Newport, Rhode Island from bankruptcy.

The group consists of Bill, 21; Bob, 19; Barry, 14; and John, 13. The boys are aided in their harmony at times by Mama Cowsill and the only other female in the family, the youngest child Susan. The performing members are assisted in the non-performing end of the complex by their two brothers, Paul and Dick, as well as Papa Bud Cowsill.
