The Happy Together Tour was playing on the Free Stage. I just love the show and have to laugh at myself because these were the type of concerts that younger Nora would have rolled her eyes at. The show is jammed with talented acts popular in the 1960s and 1970s. The crowd was huge – some folks had arrived in the morning to stake out their spot on the benches.
The Cowsills – Susan, Bob, and Paul kicked off the concert, playing four of their hits, “The Rain, The Park and Other Things” “Indian Lake,” “Love American Style,” and “Hair.” I’ve been smitten with Susan since I saw the Continental Drifters play at Birdy’s years ago. She later formed the Susan Cowsill Band that included Indianapolis natives, Aaron Stroup and Tad Armstrong. The first ever piece I wrote for NUVO was about Susan. I was so excited to be published that I pinned the check on my bulletin board and forgot to cash it. https://www.nuvo.net/music/psychic-rehearsals/article_b62acaad-8a3b-5054-b313-c3316e0f7037.html
