One of the Cowsill twins had a near-disastrous experience on his honeymoon, he related yesterday on a visit to the Daily News office with his bride of June 6.
Robert and the former Nanci Roberts of Glendale, Calif., were honeymooning in the Bahamas when he was stricken with appendicitis. Before he could make it back to Hollywood, his appendix had ruptured and it was rugged going until he got back to California and the operating room.
All the Cowsill brothers and others in the family are here now at their home on Halidon Hill off Wellington Avenue. They like to return whenever possible to see their friends and enjoy the familiar scenes of their childhood.
The new Mrs. Cowsill, who appears as a regular on the "Playboy After Dark" television show from Hollywood, as well as in commercials and other televisions shows, thinks this area is beautiful. "No smog," she marveled. She plans to travel with her husband whenever possible, but on trips of only a few days, she will remain at the Cowsill home in Santa Monica. The couple has not moved yet into a place of their own.
It hasn't all been pleasure since the family's arrival last Sunday after driving straight through from an appearance in Cleveland, Ohio. On Wednesday they went to New York to appear on Johnny Carson's show that night and tomorrow they will drive to Cape Cod for appearances in Cohasset and Hyannis Port.
Bob said wistfully the he rather missed the ferry, it had been fun to ride, but then he recalled the family often had waited in Jamestown for or more hours, rather than make the long trip around through Providence in the wee hours of the mornings.
