Well-known west coast group Blue Northern will appear in Nanaimo Bathtub week at Rugby Tubber’s Tea Party at the Civic Arena Friday at 9.p.m. With some personnel changes over the past months the group now tends to be called New Northern. Gone is singing and songwriter Ray O’Toole. Billy Cowsill and Gary Comeau are now coming to the fore as driving forces and front performers for the six man band. Recent newcomers to the line-up are Billy’s brother Barry, fresh from a stint in Santa Barbara, Calif and Lindsay Mitchell of Randy Bacman’s BMX band. Pictured are the Cowsill brothers, Barry, left, and Billy. Recent work in the studios have eight new tunes in the can for Blue or New Northern with more new ones being honed during current performance. Admission to the “tea party” is by advance ticket sales only.
