It was that super group of the ‘60s, the Cowsills, who sang the anthem for a generation: “Gimme head with hair / long beautiful hair / shining, gleaming / streaming, flaxen, waxen.”
For reasons I am still uncertain about, we make a statement with our hair. No group chose to illustrate their rebellion via hair more than the baby boomers of the 1960s, even spawning the musical “Hair,” from which the Cowsills drew their hit.
