Three original members of The Cowsills, a family pop group that had several chart-topping hits in the late 1960s, perform in Moose Jaw on Sept. 6.

Siblings Bob, Susan and Paul Cowsill played with the band when it produced the songs “The Rain, The Park and Other Things,” “Hair,” and “Love, American Style.”

In the ’60s, the group was originally comprised of mother Barbara, brothers Barry, Bill, Bob, John, Paul and sister Susan.

The band disbanded in the early 1970s, with members going on work on a variety of projects. In between the period 1985 to 2006, three band members died. They were Barbara, Barry and Bill.

In 1990, Bob, Paul, John and Susan regrouped as The Cowsills. Originally, they were going to hit the “oldies circuit,” but decided to incorporate some new material written by Bob and his wife, Mary Jo.

After many positive reviews from critics and fans, the band started to tour on a wider basis in the United States and Canada. The band also recorded an album, Global.

The three original members who will perform in Moose Jaw also have other careers in addition to touring as The Cowsills.

Susan is currently the leader of her own band, The Susan Cowsill Band, which released an album in 2005 called Just Believe It.

Paul is a farmer in Oregon.

Bob works in the software industry, training hospital emergency departments to use a software package that manages data and billing.
