The Music of Mardi Gras

If you equate Mardi Gras with dancing until dawn, scores of local venues and bands can accommodate you this week. Your options include:

The decidedly nontraditional Harlequin Harlots drum and dance corps marches revelers from the Hermes and Krewe D'Etat parade route to the nearby Big Top (1638 Clio St.) for the 3rd Annual Femme Fatale Ball. This year's theme is "Circus Magickus: Wild, Weird & Wonderful," with carnival food vendors, visual artists, fire-breathers, the Iron Maidens dance troupe and garage rock by the Grown Up Wrongs, Manwitch and Pink Slip, the all-women combo fronted by Sue Ford and featuring guest vocalist Susan Cowsill. Those who costume for the Femme Fatale Ball get in for $5 less than those who don't.
