ErnstErnst will make its final Post-Punk assault on Missoula’s musical sensibilities Saturday at Urbane Renewal, Shawn Swagerty, the group’s lead guitarist and conceptual center is dropping out to finish a degree at the University of Montana and move on to Washington, D.C.

. . .

Both (Shawn) Swagerty and (John) Kappes grew up in the Havre listening to the Cowsills and the Monkees and the Partridge Family. Then in 1977 they stumbled across the Sex Pistols and turned a corner which led backwards to Lou Reed and the Velvet Underground, and forward to groups such as Public Image Limited, Joy Division, New Order, Siouxsie and the Banshees, the Mekons and finally ErnstErnst.
