Best of Cowsills

The milk-drinking Cowsill family returns on record again with “II x II” (MGM SE-4639)

This time they are at their very best.

The album is similar to their recent Lincoln concert in repertoire. The Cowsills always appeal to the teenage group, but in this album they have a collection of wider appeal.

The oft-heard “Silver Threads and Golden Needles” is overshadowed by the ballad “I Really Want to Know You.” This tune resembles something found in the score of the Broadway hit “Hair.”

“Goodtime Charlie” and the soft melodic “Night Shift” are also appealing renditions.
