The Cowsills, recording artists who have appeared on national television and recorded several hits that sold more than a million records, will appear at the LeTourneau College Gym Longview at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22.
Admission will be $3 a ticket.
The group is composed of a mother, Mrs. Barbara Cowsill, and five of her children: Bob, who plays lead guitar, drums, and piano; Paul, who plays bass guitar, drums, and piano; Barry, who plays a 12-string guitar, bass guitar and drums; John, who plays drums and piano; and Susan, who sings and plays bass guitar.
The Cowsills started as four brothers playing at high school, college dances and local night spots around Newport, R.I., where the family lived.
But the boys decided they needed a feminine voice and persuaded their mother to sing with them.
They recorded "The Rain, The Park and Other Things," and that led to a contract with MGM Records. "The Rain, The Park and Other Things," and that led to a contract with MGM Records. "The Rain, The Park and Other Things" was the Cowsills' first million record seller, followed by "Indian Lake."
